The exitonic spectra of catodolumination of CdS(O) single crystals (the information depth 0.3-125 µm) have been investigated. It has been determined that the solid CdS(O) solution is stable in the volume, since the crystal lattice provides compensates the deformations of isoelectric impurity OS. Near the surface (up to 0.5μm) the solid CdS(O) solution may lose oxygen with the CdO, or SO formation. The wavelength of the simulated emission from the CdS(O) crystals is determined by [OS] in the volume CdS(O) in accordance with the analysis data.

The cathode- and x-ray luminescence spectra for CdS(O) crystals with the known oxygen concentration, CdS band gap dependence on [O] and the zone model built based on the theory of «band anticrossing-BAC» have been studied. The new data have been obtained for three types of the CdS self-activated luminescence: edge emission, SA and F centers. The conditions of appearance of these centers luminescence as a result of the change of CdS intrinsic point defects in presence of oxygen have been explained.

CdS(O) crystals have been investigated for a case of an additional phase of CdO oxide presence in them. The CdO exiton luminescence bands in the spectra of cadmium sulphide, containing dissoluted oxygen, have been identified.
