The investigation of various signal modulation methods remains an important task because of increasing requirements for communication and radar systems output information quality. To estimate the quality of the systems, using the signal compression for obtaining a two-dimensional image, the analysis of the two-dimensional response function, the levels and the location of side lobes of which are determined by selection of the modulating functions, is necessary. In the work the analysis of the response two-dimensional function of the radar system with the signal interperiod spread, allowing an improvement of the radar range resolution without fundamental modifications of the transceiver, has been presented. An analytical expression, connecting the form of the response two-dimensional function with the law of modifying the pulse carrier frequency has been derived. The obtained results enable to formulate the conditions for suppression of the side lobes, which should be taken into account while selecting the signal modulation function.
