The modern notions about catalytic oxidation and desorption of the gas-phase (non condensed) components on the surface of palladium catalyst have been considered. The principal similarity of these chemical reactions with the catalytic oxidation of barium and the barium oxide (non condensed components) desorption has been found and the differences between them have been revealed. An assumption about the oscillating character of the thermoelectronic emission current during barium catalytic oxidation in the activation process in the external electric field has been made.
