The self-organizing Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are characterized by complicated routing under constant changes in network structure. The growing number of network nodes leads to exponential growth of maintenance traffic, which decreases bandwidth capacity and increases energy consumption. These limitations actualize the development of algorithms that deliver such results as stability, scalability and minimal network delays in dynamic medium. In this work, a novel approach to decentralized self-organizing MANETs functioning is proposed, based on the application of cluster analysis to routing. It has been demonstrated that cluster analysis allows nodes grouping based on their topological and functional characteristics, which is enabling adaptive and efficient route construction as the number of nodes increases. The employed DBSCAN hierarchical clustering algorithm makes it possible to group nodes while keeping the advantage of reactive and proactive routing protocols.
