Secondary power supply sources contain transformers that convert voltage levels and provide galvanic separation. Standard method of transformer windings implementation has had such disadvantages as low repeatability, complexity of manufacturing due to the additional winding operation, high heat generation, and increase in the overall transformer dimensions. The solution to these shortcomings is planar transformer windings usage. However, this method requires applying a core for PCBs and imposes high demands on the planar transformer windings calculations and design. A calculations sequence of a planar transformer for a push-pull secondary power supply with PCB placed windings was described in this work. Windings calculations and transformer PCB design were performed for ELP 14/3.5/5, ELP 18/4/10, ELP 22/6/16 cores. Geometric parameters of cores and planar windings were calculated. The developed transformer effect on the device efficiency was shown. A planar transformer parameters set for implementing a push-pull secondary power supply was obtained. ELP 18/4/10 has been proven to be the most appropriate core meeting the requirements to secondary power supply.
